Cookie notice
Last updated 6 October 2026
This website sets no cookies. That is the whole notice, but the detail is below in case you want it.
What a cookie is
A cookie is a small file a website stores on your device, usually to remember you between visits or to track what you do across different sites.
Why this site has none
There is nothing to remember about you between visits, no account to stay signed in to, and no advertising. We have also deliberately avoided the tools that would introduce cookies:
- No Google Analytics or any other tracking script.
- No advertising or marketing pixels.
- No embedded social media widgets. Links to LinkedIn, Substack and booksellers are ordinary links. Nothing loads from those sites unless you click.
This is why you have not been shown a cookie banner. Under UK law consent is needed for cookies that are not strictly necessary. We do not set any, so there is nothing to consent to.
What does happen when you visit
Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, sees the technical information every web server sees — your IP address, your browser type, and which files you requested. The typeface is loaded from Google Fonts and the icons from a public code library (unpkg), so those services also see your IP address when the page loads. None of these set cookies or track you. Our privacy policy covers this.
Cloudflare’s security systems can, in rare cases, set a cookie to distinguish a genuine visitor from an automated attack. It holds no information about you and is used only to keep the site available.
If this changes
If we ever add anything that requires consent, you will be asked before it is set, and this notice will be updated.
